If you have the PS3 yellow light of death, then you’d know how devastating it is because PS3’s aren’t cheap! I’m sure you expected Sony’s high quality standard when you bought your PS3. Am I right? I know, because it happened to me not once, but two times. And I know how annoying it can be!

The PS3 yellow light may be because of overheating. Try these steps below:

1. Put your PS3 on a shelf away from other electronics. If your entertainment center has doors on it, don’t close the doors while the PS3 is running.

2. Do not place th PS3 in a corner of a room. Heat easily gets trapped in a corner. The PS3 produces a large amount of heat, any trapped heat in a corner will overheat th PS3 alot faster.

3. Shut the PS3 off for a half hour, then fire it back up.

4. Set your PS3 neer an air conditioner or vent. Use your air conditioner before purchasing a cooling unit. It’s cooling the house, so let it cool your PS3.

5. Let your PS3 run for a while, and then check the side of the shelving. If one side is hot to touch, look at buying fans designd for the PS3, to cool the hot side of the PS3. You can find a third-party fans for all sides of the PS3 at any gaming store.

6. You could even try a laptop cooling pad for the PS3 to set on. You can get one at a computer accessory store, it’s surprising how quickly these pads can cool down the PS3™ (a last resort).

7. If that does not work, shut down the high-definition or just simply lower the resolution. The high-definition will cause extensive heat. If you lower the high-def resolution and it doesn’t help, just shut off the high-definition setting all together.

Tips/Myths:
• Putting the PS3 on its side will not affect disk reading abilities
• It’s much better to put the PS3 facing up, so that the fan is pointing towards the ceiling (hot air will naturally rise). This should help keep your PS3 cool.
